Twenty artists and top executives from JYP Entertainment have been chosen to join the Recording Academy, the group that runs the Grammy Awards. First, JYP Chief Creative Officer (CCO) Jin-young Park (JY Park), all nine members of TWICE, and all eight members of Stray Kids have been chosen as voting members of the Recording Academy.
In addition, JYP CEO Jung Wook and JYP America CEO (and Chief Strategy Officer) Shin Hyun-kook have been chosen as Professional Members of the Recording Academy. This professional membership is open to music business professionals who directly support music creators. It gives them access to the Recording Academy’s community, programs, networks, and the Grammy Awards submission process.

The announcement was made on July 14, 2026. The news was released in Korean and international news media. After which, the story was shared across major news outlets, social media, and digital platforms.
Who Are Voting Members
These voting members are music creators who actively work in the recording industry. They include artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers. Specifically, they can vote to choose Grammy Award nominees and winners. Furthermore, the voting body consists of thousands of music professionals chosen by their peers. Their job is to judge work based on artistic and technical quality.
When and How They Will Vote
Since they joined the Class of 2026, they will vote for the first time at the 69th Annual Grammy Awards. Since the entire process has gone digital, the members of Stray Kids and TWICE won’t have to fly to America just to cast their ballots. They can vote from anywhere in the world. The Recording Academy has an official mobile app with secure biometric login, like Face ID or fingerprint scan. This allows members to access and submit their ballots anytime, anywhere safely.
What is the Recording Academy
The Recording Academy is the leading professional and honorary organization for the American music industry. Founded in 1957, this U.S.-based group is made up of thousands of music creators and professionals, including musicians, songwriters, producers, engineers, and studio experts. The Grammys are unique because they are peer-voted awards.
Instead of relying on charts, sales, or fan voting, the winners are chosen by the Academy’s voting members who are active music creators themselves. The Academy represents the interests of music creators. They advocate for laws regarding copyright, streaming royalties, and AI regulation to ensure artists are paid fairly.

Fans are very proud and are quick to shut down critics by pointing to the group’s massive album sales and Billboard success as proof that they deserve this. Fans are excited to see K-pop finally getting the respect it deserves in the Western music world.
