TXT’s Soobin Got Scammed In Philippines: Full Story

Fans are talking about TXT’s leader Soobin after a tense taxi moment from his Philippines trip. On April 6, clips from TXT’s official vlog spread fast across K-pop timelines. As the backlash grew, Philippines transportation regulators confirmed they had already moved to take action against the driver seen in the video.

What Is In The Video

In the “Soobin’s Super Fun Yet Super Exhausting Vacation” vlog uploaded earlier in April, Soobin is shown in a fare dispute with a driver who allegedly avoids using the meter. Soobin and his friends repeatedly stick to what they say was the original agreement, which was ₱500. During the ride, the driver suddenly demands ₱1,000.

As the clip circulated, Soobin also addressed it briefly online. He didn’t sound furious. Mostly tired, and a little stunned, calling it “really exhausting” to deal with while on vacation.

“It was really exhausting.”

Timeline and location clarity (Cebu vs Manila)

Some early posts labeled it a “Manila taxi scam,” but reports tied to the investigation identify the incident as happening in Cebu, near the airport area. After the vlog segment debuted earlier in April, Soobin’s April 6 comment returned it to the spotlight.

Authorities step in: suspension and investigation

Following the viral clip, the LTFRB investigated and later confirmed penalties. According to reports summarizing the agency’s response, the driver received a 30-day suspension, and the taxi unit was impounded pending further action.

The LTFRB also issued a show cause order to the operator and warned of possible charges related to overcharging and fraud violations, per coverage of the operator summons. The taxi company separately said it would conduct its own internal probe, according to a follow-up update.
