How BTS Reclaimed South Korean in 2026?

K-pop fans noticed timing here. The spike in travel happened right as BTS returned on March 21 to promote their ARIRANG album and world tour. Reports from Reuters, The Korea Herald, and The Straits Times all pointed to a clear BTS tourism effect.

It wasn’t just about the concert tickets, either. Fans spent a lot of money on merchandise, beauty products, and food all over Seoul. In the Myeongdong shopping district, sales of K-pop items shot up by 190% in just one week. People were also looking for trips online, with searches for Seoul travel related to the tour jumped by 155%.

This is K-pop power showing up in hard numbers. Hotels, restaurants, retailers, and tourist districts are all seeing the upside. Some analysts say BTS’s return could generate nearly $2 billion in economic impact, with Seoul tourism growth estimated at around 32.7 percent.
