June 2 was supposed to be a major day in ADOR’s 43.1 billion won lawsuit against former NewJeans member Danielle, her family, and former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin. But when the court’s evidence deadline arrived, ADOR did not submit the materials expected to support that claim.
Instead of submitting the evidence, the agency just sent in paperwork to change their claim, update their lawyer information, and offer a plan to provide evidence at a later date. That is just paperwork. It is not the same as actually showing the evidence for one of the biggest K-pop legal battles happening right now.
Why Is This Raising More Questions
The timing has made people even more suspicious. ADOR’s former lawyers quit in late April, leaving the company without representation during a critical part of the case. The agency later brought in new representation, but by the June 2 deadline, it still had not submitted the evidence plan on time.
Danielle’s side has been very clear about how they see that sequence of events. Her representatives argued in court that ADOR’s lawyers’ switch and late paperwork seemed like an intentional delay. They want to keep her trapped in a lawsuit during the best years of her career. They also said ADOR is using Danielle as a warning to other members about the dangers of facing a massive lawsuit.
ADOR apologized for the delay, explaining that practical issues caused the holdup and insisting they did not mean to drag out the case.
But the criticism hasn’t stopped. ADOR’s decision to change lawyers, change their claims, and miss the deadline has made everyone look even more closely at how they are running their case.
June 11 could be the real turning point
The next hearing is set for June 11, and it might be the moment that decides where this case is headed. The court also suggested that both sides should keep talking about a possible settlement. But Danielle’s side has remained doubtful, especially given the scale of the damages claim and the delays so far. Now, will ADOR actually prove its case, or will the court see these latest moves as just another way to delay the trial?
