What was supposed to be a joyful birthday celebration for Jay quickly turned serious. ENHYPEN Jay’s birthday live on April 20 turned noticeably tense once viewers began flooding the chat with “6” and “7.”
Jay went live on Weverse for his birthday, but the mood shifted when the comment section became another battleground over ENHYPEN’s lineup. This debate started over the fandom since March 2026, when Heeseung left the group and began his solo activities under the name Evan.
JAY has seen too much on the comments and he had to address it on his birthday live.

“Some of you guys, like you actually don’t care about the situation going on right? You guys keep like, some of you keep saying “six or sever six or seven” “enhypen is what enhypen is what”. Im… pic.twitter.com/VCAs4CVEiq
Why Jay Finally Had to Speak Up
At first, Jay was just scrolling through comments on Weverse and was asking, “Any questions?” while he kept scrolling through comments, but there was just a lot of spam like “Enhypen is 6” or “Enhypen is 7.” Then he went quiet for a long time, and that’s when it reached the peak.
Jay started expressing how uncomfortable and bothered he was the whole time. He said that even on his birthday, the comments were full of spam like “6 7,” so he finally spoke up. He said he might be okay being treated like this, but he doesn’t want other members to feel what he’s feeling right now. What he said:
You actually don’t care about the situation that is going on, right? You guys keep saying ENHYPEN is 7 or 6, or ENHYPEN is this or ENHYPEN is that, I don’t care, ENHYPEN is ENHYPEN. I’m fine, but don’t do that to other members, especially at their birthday.
I don’t want them to feel like that on their birthday, okay? Thinking is free, but if you’re saying that on someone’s birthday? I’m ok with all my fans. Today is a happy birthday for me but I’m really nervous. what if other members would feel depressed in these kind of situations I am really scared for that. Hopefully I don’t want that happening in the future on other member’s birthday.
That blunt reaction by Jay spread quickly after the live. It was very straight to the point, slightly irritated, and clearly protective of the group members.
But he didn’t stop at saying he could handle it. Jay also made it clear that his bigger concern was the other members.
How long has this been going on?
The reaction was not out of nowhere. Since the Heeseung solo departure was confirmed in March, fans have been split over supporting members’ choices or accepting ENHYPEN’s current six-member reality.
Many ENGENEs are voicing their frustration over the comments across all social media platforms. And they are also praising Jay for standing up for the group.
