Lucas is officially leaving SM Entertainment.
On April 24, 2026, SM Entertainment announced via Weverse that Lucas’s exclusive contract ended, bringing his career with the agency to a close. In the statement, SM thanked fans for the support shown to Lucas.

The announcement signifies the end of Lucas Wong’s SM chapter, which began with his 2018 debut through NCT and WayV. He later joined SuperM as well, becoming one of SM’s most prominent multinational idols during that time.
Why was he on a 2-year hiatus?
But his career stopped in August 2021, when allegations about his personal life appeared online. The claims included accusations of cheating, dating multiple people at once, and gaslighting. SM responded by putting him on an uncertain hiatus and issuing an apology over the controversy. And Lucas stayed out of group activities for nearly two years.
When he Started his Solo Career
In May 2023, SM confirmed that Lucas would leave NCT and WayV after discussions with the artist, while remaining with the company to focus on solo work. Still, his status in SuperM was never clearly addressed through an official group update.
Since then, Lucas has focused on his solo identity, highlighted by the release of Renegade and his re-emergence as a solo performer.
SM Entertainment stated that Lucas’s contract concluded as of April 24 and that the company would support his new endeavors going forward.
