Singer Psy Referred to Prosecutors Over Illegal Drug Prescriptions

PSY has reportedly been referred to prosecutors in the latest turn of his ongoing prescription drug case in South Korea. According to multiple Korean media outlets, Seoul’s Seodaemun Police Station recently sent PSY, his manager, and a professor at a university hospital to prosecutors on suspicion of violating the Medical Service Act. The Psy drug investigation is focusing on the claims that he got prescriptions for drugs like Xanax and Stilnox without seeing a doctor in person.

Police are investigating his activities from 2022 to 2025. During that time, PSY is accused of receiving the prescriptions through a Seoul hospital while having a third party collect the medication for him. South Korea has strict rules for drugs like Xanax and Stilnox. You can get into legal trouble if you use someone else to get your prescription or pick up your medicine for you.

What P Nation Said

In an earlier Psy label, P Nation stated that the agency admitted that sending someone else to pick up the medication was a “clear mistake and fault” and described it as a “lapse in judgment.” But the company pushed back on claims of intentionally illegal proxy prescriptions.

According to P Nation, PSY had been diagnosed with a chronic sleep disorder and was taking the medication under medical guidance. The agency said that Psy was consuming the pills strictly according to the dosages prescribed by his doctors.

PSY apologized as well, saying he made a mistake by having someone else collect his prescription.

Will PSY Continue His Schedule

This controversy is getting a lot of attention because it involves one of Korea’s most famous celebrities. The case has also started a bigger conversation about how strictly these types of medications are handled, particularly when famous people and medical staff are involved.

Police aren’t just looking into PSY. They have also taken action against medical staff and checked hospital records. They are also investigating whether the doctors gave consultations remotely rather than meeting him in person.

Now the legal controversy has certainly raised questions about Psy Summer Swag 2026. As of early June 2026, the tour remains scheduled to proceed. Starting from June 27 and running through August 23 across various cities in South Korea. P Nation, PSY’s agency, has stated that it intends to “actively cooperate” with the ongoing prosecution investigation. But it has not announced any changes to his concert schedule.
